Both my husband & I have been involved with Showing and Breeding Greyhounds since 1972, but I was also involved with racing Greyhounds from the age of 8 along with my Father. Our first show greyhound was “Falconcrag Marcus” who was all Shalfleet breeding. We then purchased our next Greyhound from Mrs Barbara Wilton-Clark, she was called “Shalfleet Springtime” and was our foundation bitch. Springtime was bred to “CH Starbolt Cetus” who was bred by Mrs Vicky Gwynn and was owned by Mrs Brenda Rowe. This litter produced “Windspiel Northern Lass”, we bred from Northern Lass by going to Mrs Wilton-Clark’s import “Am CH Aroi Sea Hawk of Shalfleet” and this litter produced the very famous “CH Windspiel Northern Style”.
Northern Style was the All Breed Winner in the Top Brood Bitch competition in 1993, and Top Hound Brood Bitch in 1994. She was Top Brood Bitch in the breed for many years during the 90’s. Northern Style was bred to Mrs Rowe’s “CH Gaysyde White Christmas” this produced a litter of 4, 3 bitches and 1 dog. All these made champions.

We repeated the mating and again produced 4, 1 bitch and 3 dogs. 2 of these made champions. This combinations offspring dominated the 90’s by winning 70+ CC’s between them. Three of these winning BOB at Crufts: CH Gaysyde Christmas Cracker, CH Windspiel Northern Pearl of Seeswift, CH Windspiel Northern Snowman. Snowman also went on to win BOB at European Dog Show 1999, and was also made a Champion of Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Yugoslavia and Italy. Also from this combination “CH Snow Queen of Windspiel” and “CH Special Style at Windspiel”.

“CH Special Style at Windspiel” from the first litter of Style’s was Top Brood Bitch in the Hound Group in 1999. She was bred to “CH Scottwil Beat The Ace” this mating produced “CH Windspiel Northern Sea Dove” and “CH Windspiel Northern Seagull”. Seagull was BOB at Crufts in 1999. Sea Dove’s career started when she was 7 months old and went to South Yorkshire Hound Open Show and went BPIS under the late Don Weiden. Her first CC was awarded at Bath in 1999 and her last CC was at the Welsh KC, where she was group 4 in 2001. She had 7 CC’s in total and was Top Greyhound 2000.

Sea Dove has produced 2 litters both by the same stud dog, “CH Baldrey Not So Smart with Buebezi”. This dog was bred by Mr & Mrs M White and currently owned by Mrs B Rowe who campaigned him to gain his title. The first litter produced 6 puppies, 2 bitches and 4 dogs. We retained 2 bitches, “Windspiel Northern Stylus” started a very promising career by taking RCC whilst still in Puppy. “CH Windspiel Northern Savanna” our solid black, has 8 CC’s at present and is still going strong. These 2 bitches have had to take second place behind out latest star “CH Windspiel Northern Stylon” our solid red bitch.

Stylon came from the second litter, she currently has 17 CC’s, 14 BOB and 3RCC, she was Top Greyhound Bitch of 2003, Top Greyhound 2004, and Greyhound of the Year Winner 2004. Also in this litter we have “CH Windspiel Northern Striker”4 CC‘s, “CH Windspiel Northern Sheriff” 5 CC,s and our newly crowned Irish Champion “IR ENG CH Windspiel Northern Shimmer”.3CC,s

She was Top Brood Bitch 2004 and 2005in Hound Group

Our first experience abroad was at Courtrai (Kortrijk) in Belgium this 2004, where Savanna and Sheriff were campaigned. The first day both won C.A.C at the Belgium Sighthound Championship Show, and Savanna took BOB and was 5th in the Group. The second day, at the Euro Dogshow Savanna took Res C.A.C. and Res C.A.C.I.B and Sheriff won the C.A.C. and C.A.C.I.B and was 2nd in the Group Returned in 2005 and Savanna won the C.A.C and C.A.C.I.B

As yet we have no Grandchildren from Sea Dove, but watch this space!

After her last show, Sea Dove was asked to go to Granada Studios to audition for the part of “Monica” in the soap Coronation Street. She won this part as her temperament and Character stood out against the other dogs. She has always been very obedient and enjoyed being a TV personality. She has appeared at many charity events for Greyhound Rescue. She has now retired from Showing and TV and is watching her children in their success.
